Did you know? If you donate now, those dollars are likely 100% tax deductible? In fact, in 2020 some changes were made to make it even easier to claim this credit. For example.
Are you itemizing deductions? If so, the CARES Act increased the limit for contributions for individual donors! You may now elect to deduct up to 100% of your adjusted gross income. (This was increased from 60 percent).
Not itemizing? That’s okay! The CARES Act allows for an additional, “above-the-line” deduction for charitable gifts of up to $300 per taxpayer ($600 for a married couple). So, if you are not itemizing on your 2020 taxes, you can claim this *new* deduction.
And if you are interested in corporate giving, the adjusted gross income limit for contributions was also increased for corporate donors! Corporations can now deduct up to 25% of taxable income. (This was increased from 10 percent).

Ohio Cares Grant
This past spring the Gahanna Historical Society applied for and received a $5000 grant, from the Ohio Humanities Council, to help make up for the financial losses suffered due to COVID 19. These funds were provided in the form of an Ohio Cares Grant. The Society used the funds to pay for utilities , upgrade security, buy supplies such as paint, new storm door, and have the Log House treated for insects. We appreciate the Ohio Humanities Council for the opportunity to apply for this much needed grant.
