#gahannahistory

The Society with a Forward Look and a Backward Glance.

We have been active in the local community since 1965. We are nestled next to Creekside Park in downtown Olde Gahanna. We welcome residents, their families, and visitors to our historic settlement. We are home to the Lily Stone Bed & Breakfast, the John Clark House, and the Log House. Come tour our historic homes and enjoy Gahanna.

Ohio Sharp's Grant

The Gahanna Historical Society received a Sharp's grant from the Ohio Humanities Council in December, to help make up for losses suffered due to Covid 19. The grant is to be used for specific purposes. This grant will be used to pay  for utilities for our museums and buildings. We also plan to upgrade our electrical system in the Clark House to provide improved lighting of our displays. The purchase of a video camera will allow us record content for our website. We appreciate the Ohio Humanities Council for the opportunity to apply for this much needed grant.

2021 Cemetery Walk

A new program offered Fall 2021 was our Cemetery Walk. Volunteers in period costume led attendees on a guided walk through Mifflin Cemetery. The volunteers talked about mourning practices and symbols found on tombstones and their meanings.
